The Magnifying Glass
Magnify-to make larger,to bring into clearer sharper larger focus.
Welcome!
Hello and Welcome!
This blog spot has been created so that we can burn holes. I know, "Burn holes?" you ask.
"Yes. "
To burn holes we need a magnifying glass. You see a magnifying glass has actually two distinct properties. It magnifies things (brings them into larger clearer focus) and if used in direct sunlight you can burn holes in things like cloth, paper, flesh. The magnifying glass we are going to be using is very special. It can be purchased or maybe you already have one or know a friend that has one. It is called the Bible. You may have heard of it.
The real purpose of this blog is to magnify God in all His resplendent glory as much as humanly possible and to burn a hole through a lot of our preconceived ideas about ourselves and who God is. It will bring into clearer sharper focus Who God is, who we are, what is our relationship to Him and what you can expect in the life here-after. And of course it is all up for discussion. Let's go!
Rules of Engagement: No cursing or foul language. God, Jesus and Christ must appear in capital lettering. This is open discussion and debate so conduct yourselves like adults. Anyone not following the rules will be banned.

The First Rule of Holes
The simple fact of the matter is that we are so filled with sin that we have no room for God. The never ending lust for the things of this world so occupy all that we are and all that we do so much so that God, if He is given any thought at all, is viewed in a trifling way . We are utterly so completely and totally dead in our sin that we neither want or seek after God. There is no hole for God to occupy. If we have it in us to put on some air of false spirituality it is because we want a god of our making; a false god. False gods abound but they aren't there to fill any hole, they are part and parcel of our sinfulness. Some may even delude themselves into thinking that there is no God. April 1st is their national holiday. We are, by nature, lawbreakers not donuts. We are filled to overflowing with our own corrupt nature that we would rather worship creation than the Creator. We would rather take our fill of this world, and all that it has to offer than bow the knee to the Everlasting God who reigns and rules with dominion, power and authority forever and ever. amen.
Genuine worship comes from a heart that is so God centered in its passion that we see Him as our greatest treasure. It is only by Jesus Christ who gave His life as a ransom for our sinful selves that there lays any hope of being able to genuinely worship God in Spirit and in truth. Truth comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God-The Bible. Where is God in your life? Is He the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords? Does He have reign and rule over you or does this life and all of its distractions, cares and worries dominate?
There is a hole that is talked about in the Bible. It is called the Pit. It is also known as Hell. There is an opportunity to be saved but it isn't by your works. There is no one who is good enough to get to heaven on their own. We are too sinful even on our best, most giving, generous, loving day. God has established a ladder for the pit. It is called the 10 Commandments. If you can keep all 10 of those Laws perfectly you can climb your way out of judgment. The fact is that if you have ever lied, even once, you have broken the Law. If you have stolen something large or something small-you have broken the Law. If you have hated anybody the scripture says that hating someone is equivalent to murder-you have broken the Law. If have failed to know God and worship Him as God and or taken His name in vain-you are a Lawbreaker. God, as He is revealed in scripture, is a Holy and Just God and demands perfection in thought, word and deed. No spot, no wrinkle, no blemish. Are you there? Can you make that claim for your life? If the answer in total honesty is, "no" then the sentence is death. Descend the ladder into the pit for that is the just penalty for your crimes. Are you in despair? If you are that is good. It means that you are ready to receive. Are you saying in some form or fashion, "What must I do to be saved?" You are asking the right question. In as much as God is Holy and Just He is also merciful and loving. He sent Jesus Christ His only begotten Son to pay the penalty for your sin and mine. He came to earth in the form of a man and was scourged, beaten, bruised and hung on a cross to die. God became flesh and dwelt among us and was without spiritual spot or blemish perfectly keeping the Law. Then, according to God's predetermined plan He was crucified, nailed to the cross and lifted between heaven and earth where He endured tremendous suffering on your behalf and mine. All of God's Holy anger and wrath that we deserve was poured out on Jesus instead as He became the perfect sacrifice for your sins and mine. You were ransomed. You were bought with a price. His blood paid the debt you could not. After his death His friends and earthly family laid His body in a borrowed tomb where three days later He rose bodily from the dead. Jesus has conquered death, hell and the grave that all who would call on the name of Jesus and believe in Him and on Him would be saved. His victory is your victory. All you need to do is pray to Him, confess your sin, repent(turn away), ask for forgivness. If this is your desire your heart is ready. God's merciful gift to you is eternal life with Him. Heaven awaits you! You don't have to suffer for your crimes if you will only pray to receive Christ, the Risen Lord, as Lord and Savior-God's gift of grace for you. Receive Him today. On the other hand reject Him if you will take on the penalty yourself. You can pay the price for your lawlessness it will only take you all of eternity.
The rule of holes is this: If you are digging and realize you are over your head in a pit of selfish sinfulness-Stop. Look up. Christ's blood stained cross is there for you.
Let All Mortal Flesh be Silent
Let all mortal flesh keep silence,
And with fear and trembling stand;
Ponder nothing earthly minded,
For with blessing in His hand,
Christ our God to earth descendeth,
Our full homage to demand.
King of kings, yet born of Mary,
As of old on earth He stood,
Lord of Lords, in human vesture,
In the body and the blood;
He will give to all the faithful
His own self for heavenly food.
Rank on rank the host of heaven
Spreads its vanguard on the way,
As the Light of light descendeth
From the realms of endless day,
That the powers of hell may vanish
As the darkness clears away.
At His feet the six winged seraph,
Cherubim with sleepless eye,
Veil their faces to His presence,
As with ceaseless voice they cry:
Alleluia, Alleluia
Alleluia, Lord Most High!
